Russia, China not signed on for Assad’s removal, says Obama

Russia and China, long-time Syrian allies, have not agreed to any plan for the removal of President Bashar al-Assad from power, President Barack Obama said on Tuesday.During talks between Obama and other world leaders at the Group of 20 summit in Los Cabos, Mexico, the U.S. president conceded he had failed to make a breakthrough with the leaders of Russia or China despite intensive talks."I wouldn’t suggest that at this point the United States and the rest of the international community are aligned with Russia and China in their positions, but I do think they recognize the grave dangers of all-out civil war,” he told repor ... Syria, rebels agree pause for Homs evacuation: Red Cross

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said on Wednesday it was preparing to evacuate wounded people and trapped civilians from the flashpoint city of Homs after both sides agreed to its request for a temporary pause in fighting.The independent agency said it had made its request on Tuesday to Syrian authorities and opposition groups. "We have teams from the ICRC and Syrian Red Crescent in Homs city. We want to go in as soon as possible. Britain, U.S. to offer safe passage to Assad ‘if he joins Syria peace talks’: report

The United States and Britain are willing to offer Syrian President Bashar al-Assad "safe passage and even clemency” in a bid to convene a U.N. conference in Geneva to discuss the political transition in Syria reported The Guardian on Thursday.
